As one of the leading British-style IB international schools in Tokyo, at Malvern College Tokyo (MCT) we encourage every pupil to maximise their potential. We also recognise and nurture those with exceptional talents through our Malvern College Tokyo Scholarship Programme, offered to those pupils who demonstrate outstanding ability, dedication and potential.
We take great pride in our Malvern Scholars, who are recognised with partial fee remission, tailored enrichment opportunities, and the distinction of being identified as scholars within our ambitious international school community.
For the 2026-27 academic year, MCT will offer a range of scholarships, by both nomination and application, to those pupils who demonstrate excellence in their chosen field.
Available to pupils entering Foundation Year 1 and above, our Academic Scholarship recognises those who demonstrate exceptional academic knowledge, intellectual curiosity, and scholarly potential within our rigorous IB programme. Our Academic Scholars consistently display:
The Performing Arts are an important part of life at MCT and we welcome scholarship applicants who exhibit exceptional talent in either music or drama, and who are eager to contribute to the cultural life of our British-style IB school.
We consider music to be one of life’s greatest pleasures. It is a constant source of inspiration, helping teach self-discipline, memory and literacy. Our Music Scholarship is open to pupils in Prep 5 and above who have achieved the equivalent of a strong ABRSM or Trinity Grade 5 in at least one instrument or voice.

Drama is vital for developing emotional intelligence, imagination, teamwork and strong communication skills, qualities that are highly valued in IB schools like MCT. Applicants for our Performing Arts Scholarships must demonstrate sustained commitment, past and present, to their discipline and be ready to participate fully in the school’s performing arts programmes.
The creative arts contribute significantly to personal, social, and academic growth. They encourage the development of creativity, innovation, collaboration and critical thinking, skills that are essential for a 21st Century workforce.
Our Visual Arts/Design Scholarship is open to talented applicants from FY1 (Y7) onwards who demonstrate a genuine talent and interest in the visual arts and/or in design.
Visual Arts/Design Scholars are expected to:
Sport at MCT builds physical fitness, resilience, teamwork and healthy competition. Our Sports Scholarship is open to pupils in Prep 5 (Y5) and above who demonstrate a high level of athletic ability in either a range of sports or have a particular talent in one discipline.

External scholarship applications will be processed alongside their regular admissions application and prior to a scholarship award being made, candidates must also pass the school’s online assessment and attend an admissions interview.

Alongside the scholarship application and personal statement, the following supporting documents should also be submitted:
*Internal applicants should request a Principal Recommendation Form from the Head of Senior or Head of Primary.
Short-listed candidates will be invited to a scholarship selection interview.
Final scholarship decisions are made by the MCT Scholarship Panel, which considers the overall quality of each application, including the candidates personal, academic, and co-curricular profile, interview performance, evidence of talent and capacity to contribute to school life.

Bursaries are available to families who require additional financial support, including expatriate families, international families relocating to Tokyo and those who do not receive an educational allowance from their employer.
Bursary applications are open to pupils across all year groups from Prep 1 onwards.
