Language, Culture, Identity: Everyday Excellence Through an IB Education Workshop
At Malvern College Tokyo, we recognise that language is far more than a means of communication. It is central to identity, culture and belonging, and a powerful driver of confidence, academic success and global understanding.
As an IB World School, we are deeply committed to developing pupils who are articulate, reflective and internationally minded. Through a carefully designed bilingual environment, our pupils become confident and fluent users of English, the language of instruction, while also developing a strong command of Japanese, the language of our host country and an essential part of the cultural fabric of our community.
Language learning sits at the heart of our educational philosophy. It underpins academic excellence, supports critical thinking, and enables pupils to express ideas with clarity, creativity and purpose. At Malvern College Tokyo, we believe that excellence in language is achieved not through isolated lessons, but through rich, authentic experiences embedded across the curriculum and daily life of the school.
On Saturday 28th February, we are delighted to invite prospective families to join us for a special workshop as part of our experience programme. Both parents and pupils will have the opportunity to step into our classrooms and experience first-hand what learning at Malvern College Tokyo looks like, engaging in carefully designed activities delivered in both English and Japanese by our expert teachers.
These interactive sessions will reflect the inquiry-led approach of the IB and will be tailored to be age-appropriate, engaging and meaningful. Together, parents and pupils will experience how language is used as a tool for learning, creativity, communication and critical thinking, and how confidence and fluency are developed naturally through high-quality teaching and purposeful challenge.
This workshop also provides an opportunity to explore how language, culture and identity are woven together within our curriculum, and how this approach supports our wider commitment to Everyday Excellence and the holistic development of every pupil.
